The WA Building Bonus Grant Explained

Let’s be honest, 2020 hasn’t treated you like you’d hoped. You’ve spent months living under the dark shadow of FOMO and you’re about to give up on your bucket list … because who needs a week in the Maldives anyway?! *cries*

But what if we told you that our mate, Mark McGowan, is slinging a cool $20k to new home builders? How does $20k towards your new home sound? Yep, your bucket list is about to earn some BIG ticks! Not to mention all the Grants flying around, including any of our Smart promos. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves (yet).

Am I about to roll in $20k?
So, now that you’ve started visualising your dream ensuite – double shower and soaking tub fo sho – are you eligible? Let’s keep it super simple (and Smart):
• You need to be a first or second home buyer
• You have to enter into a contract to build a new home on vacant land or enter into an off-the-plan contract to purchase a new build
• It’s time-sensitive, so you’ll also need to be the speedy manifesting type because you’ll need to sign your build contract between June 4th and December 31st, 2020

Show me the mullah!
How do you get your hands on the $20k? Start smart. You’ll need to have regular income – if you’re on JobKeeper, that could still count. Our inhouse Loan Co smarties can see if you’re eligible for a home loan no matter what your current situation. Ticking those boxes means closing your eyes to picture your dream ensuite, or your new central courtyard, or your shiny breakfast bar. Now imagine someone else paying for it. Ahh, the serenity.

Dream spend or real spend?
It’s time to stop dream spending your lotto winnings, and literally spend your $20k Building Bonus grant. Just think of how many Krispy Kremes you could buy with that sort of money… its 11,455 in case you’re wondering. But seriously, it could also get you a wicked theatre room, or a freestanding bathtub, or that WIR you’ve been dreaming of. Because we all know spending someone else’s money (especially the government’s) is waaaaayyy better than spending your own.

Back to the bucket list
Okay, you had your plans. You wrote them down. 2020 was your year to make some serious moves. Without dwelling too much on the outcome of that plan *cringe*, you now have a way to make a really big mark on life’s bucket list. Build your new home – CHECK! With $20k of the bill picked up, you also don’t have to sacrifice all of the other items. Sure, travel is on hiatus but restaurants, cooking classes, footy practice, and Etsy side hustles are all back. And they’re back with our newfound appreciation for life away from Netflix (who thought that was ever gonna be a thing?) Oh, and if ‘become an interior stylist’ is on your 2020 list, we’ve got you covered with our iDesign 😉

Still want more deets? We got chu.
