Everyone loves a bargain, and when you’re setting up your home it’s the perfect time to get one.
Here’s 3 quick tips on how to get a better deal:
1. Negotiate the price
We’re all so used to paying the ticket price for things that we often forget that as the purchaser we can quite often get a better deal. Most businesses would rather sell an item with a slight discount than not and this is particularly true if you’re buying multiple items from the same shop. So why not give it a shot? You may be surprised at how simple it is to get a discount at some places.
2. Buy in bulk
As we mentioned before you increase your chances of a discount when you are spending money on more than one item at once. Say something like ‘I’d love to furnish my whole bedroom today. Would you be able to give me a 10% discount if I buy these 4 items today?’. Then throw in a smile for good luck.
3. Take the display model
As you know there are a lot of stores that have a floor model of furnishings or accessories for people to try before they buy. A lot of people don’t want to buy the couch that other people have tried out so the businesses can’t sell these items at full price. Most of the time they are practically pristine, especially when you are purchasing them from a higher end store. After all the shop doesn’t want to display tatty or damaged furniture. Asking if there is any display stock available for purchase is a great way to get a bargain. Just make sure you check out your item before leaving the store because these rarely are returnable.
